Insect proofing of buildings
Insecticides
Cockroaches lay eggs in capsules out of reach of insecticides, so a carefully planned programme of treatments is needed if they infest a premise. Cockroaches are very difficult to remove if they infest a food premises.
Pyrethroid sprays and impregnated plastic strips are useful around refuge areas. They should not be used near food. Insecticide lacquers are also available which can be applied to walls.
Insecticides should not be used as substitute for cleaning.
