First Aid Equipment
Guides to good food safety practices recommends businesses have adequate and appropriate first aid equipment in their premises. In small businesses a person should be appointed to take charge of the first aid kit and call an ambulance if required. In large businesses a qualified First Aider may be required.
The first aid kit usually contains the following items:
- Guidance card on basic first aid.
- Individually wrapped sterile, adhesive brightly coloured dressings(blue) or dressings with a thin metal strip.
- Sterile eye pads.
- Individually wrapped triangle bandages.
- Individually wrapped sterile, unmedicated wound dressings.
- Disposable gloves.
